This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a Title 1 school who's music budget has decreased every year as a result of budget cuts in the arts. Our school recently added 3K to our classes and we are looking to enhance music for these younger students in 3K, Prek, and Kindergarten with developmentally appropriate supplies for the music classroom. Exploration and learning through play is a large part of our how younger students learn in their classroom. In the music classroom we want them to have the same opportunities for play-based centers that engage their musical creativity through pretend play, dramatic play, and exploration of sounds.

These music center items will engage our younger students in learning independence through exploration while being provided opportunities for teamwork building and social emotional learning through musical play as a classroom community.

The centers will include areas for hands-on play with musical puzzles and song books, a building center with play people and instruments, a dramatic play center based on musical careers, and basic art supplies for creating fun music compositions.

These music center supplies will be a vital resource for creating a community of life long music lovers at our school.
