Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an incredible group of first graders who are full of curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. My classroom is a diverse and vibrant community, including English Language Development (ELD) learners, African American students, and children from low-income backgrounds. Despite the challenges they face, my students come to school each day eager to learn, explore new ideas, and grow as readers, writers, and problem-solvers. What makes them special is their resilience, enthusiasm, and determination to succeed when given the right tools.
To better support their learning, I am requesting a laptop and printer for our classroom.
These resources will make a significant difference by allowing me to create and print engaging, hands-on materials tailored to my students’ needs. The laptop will help me access interactive lessons, educational programs, and assessments that support differentiated instruction, especially for my ELD learners who benefit from visual and digital support. The printer will allow me to provide colorful visuals, writing templates, and individualized learning resources that reinforce key skills in reading, writing, and math—critical for all my students, but especially for those who need extra language and literacy support.
My goals for this project include increasing student engagement by incorporating more interactive and technology-enhanced lessons; supporting ELD learners with printed vocabulary tools, bilingual resources, and visual aids to strengthen language development; and lastly, providing high-quality printed materials that make learning accessible and equitable for my Black students and children from low-income backgrounds.
