My Students

Do you remember what it was like to learn something new in Kindergarten? To sit there and practice on worksheets over and over again? Well that time has passed and we are all about engaging our little ones with technology!

My students are full of excitement about Kindergarten and being in school!

They are sweet and ready to learn new things every day. Our school is fairly new. It opened three years ago and is lacking many instructional materials and technology resources. Our school has a moderate poverty level, about 40% of our students receive a free or reduced lunch. My goal is to fill our classroom with the most technology possible to help our young students meet the goals of becoming 21st century learners and global competitors.

My Project

Technology in the classroom helps to engage five year old students in many different ways. It allows them to take control of their academics and learn responsibility. It also allows them to be excited about learning new things and setting new goals. The 2 iPod Touches will allow students to manipulate learning games right at their fingertips! The iPod also has many different applications that we can use in the classroom, such as maps and book readers like the Nook app. It will also allow each student to learn and grow at their own pace.

This project will make a difference in my classroom by allowing students to learn and grow at their own pace.

Each student will have the opportunity to use the iPods in order to learn based on their own individual learning goals. Differentiating instruction based on the students needs is one of the most important parts of being a great teacher. These iPods would be very beneficial in our classroom.
