The items in this list will help our students learn how to give back to the community. The students will help the teachers as we plant these seeds and will learn how the flowers and vegetables help us and the world around us. This will also give the children a chance to make their school a beautiful environment.
My goals for this project are to make our school beautiful.
We plan to also engage the children in the process of planting and maintaining the garden. We plan to develop their self- confidence when they see our school and all the hard work they put in to helping it look beautiful. Another goal is to have a separate area where the children can work together to plant vegetables. They can see the process of how we get vegetables, how they help our bodies, and maybe it will also entice them to eat these vegetables more often. In our Pre-K centers we love giving our children a chance to learn by doing and seeing. They will take in so much just by watching, observing, and helping.
Our school has a variety of many types of learners. We have both 3k and Pre-K children, who learn and take in knowledge through senses. At a small age, we hope to offer them confidence to witness a successful project they can look back on. Our school is in a very populated area where students aren't able to see how plants or vegetables grow. We also have students from lower income households, so our students aren't offered many opportunities to learn by doing. This is why this is a very special project, because we are offering a moment for them to build on their knowledge along with help our community at the same time.
More than half of students from low‑income households
