Help me give my students hands-on materials to help them develop not only their minds but also their fine motor muscles through puzzles, playdoh, and books.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 11 awesome students! My classroom is for children with special needs, high-functioning autism.
My students love high energy, hands-on lessons!
Not all of my students have access to technology so providing them with materials has been a must.
My Project
The school closures were hard for all students, but for children with autism, the change has disrupted their life drastically. The security and familiarity of school have left them confused and missing an important part of their life. The extra services provided by the school for sensory and fine motor practices are no longer possible.
By giving my students hands-on materials that they would usually have access to in school, they can continue to learn through play at home.
Each child will receive a packet of a puzzle, playdoh, crayons, pencils, and scissors to fill their day with learning activities while still allowing them to build eye-hand coordination and fine motor muscles. Students will also receive sight word flashcards and easy-reader books to help them practice reading skills.
