Help me give my students a way to move safely around the school whenever they are transitioning to other classes like music, art, or Spanish. Little hands can only carry so much. Having these totes will help them!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have a special group of third graders in an inclusion class. Each student is an amazing individual. Some have special needs and require support. All of them thrive when they have the resources they need to succeed. Our classroom is on the second floor of a building and my students need to walk up and down stairs to transition to special area classes such as music, art, and language class. They must carry their supplies to the special class. This requires them to juggle items such as musical instruments, markers, colored pencils, folders, devices, and sometimes even lunch boxes whenever they are walking in the hallways and up and down the stairs. Safety is a huge concern in this scenario.
Having totes that can hold their materials as they walk to and from other classes will ensure that my students safely transition through the hallways of our school with all of their supplies on hand.
No more will they lose supplies as they walk through the hallways, and more importantly, they will be able to safely go up and down the stairs.
