Little Hands, Big Minds

My Project

My inquisitive first graders love to learn by exploring through creating and engaging in hands-on fun! For many students, their formative years in preschool were spent learning online due to Covid. This impacted their learning greatly because they didn't have the full experience and foundational skills to prepare them for elementary school.

The requested materials in this project will provide an opportunity for my students to be actively engaged, as well as help my students build their literacy and STEM skills.

Our morning begins with my students getting their brains going by working with their STEM bins. They use their creativity and critical thinking skills to build various structures. New materials such as the Architect Set, Marble Run Fun, and the Vehicle Building Engineering Center will add excitement and provide endless possibilities to their creations!

Our school implements the Daily 5 Literacy Framework and one of the stations in our rotation is Word Work. Students have the opportunity to use materials to build words and strengthen phonics skills. These materials will help make learning fun and meaningful. This will provide a multi-sensory approach and benefiting visual and kinesthetic learners.
