My Students
These days we have technology available to our students. But everything is touch screen. My students need to learn keyboarding skills. To do that, we need laptops.
Our school is located in military housing.
All of my students are military dependents who in many cases have a parent who is deployed. Yet these kindergarteners come to school each day excited and eager to learn. My goal is to prepare them for the rest of their education.
My Project
We all know that technology is becoming a bigger part of elementary education. But without the proper tools, we can't teach them enough to prepare them for the next level. Everything these days is touch screen. My students need the opportunity to learn keyboarding skills. With a laptop, I can provide my students with opportunities to use keyboarding programs, as well as give them opportunities to put their thoughts in writing.
By having a laptop provided for my kindergarteners to learn keyboarding skills, they will be better prepared for first grade and beyond.
I know the students can hunt and peck their way through a keyboard, but why make them struggle? Let's teach them the right way from the beginning!
