My Students
I teach at an elementary school in rural Georgia with many enthusiastic students. We are an economically challenged community with limited financial resources. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My school services students from two communities. We have students from many cultural backgrounds: hispanic, indian, african american, english, native american and more. As are most children, my students are very active and love doing movement activities and exploring and playing a variety of instruments. My students are a joy to teach!
My Project
My 1st and 2nd grade students have the opportunity to play the piano keyboards in music class. This unit helps prepare them for playing the recorder in 3rd grade. We have had several keyboards donated to our classroom this year. We are in need of power adapters (to keep from using 6 DD batteries per keyboard) and keyboard stands.
My young students get so excited about playing the keyboards.
We just need some additional materials to aid us in using these resources to their fullest potential. Please help us make these instruments available in our lab by helping provide the needed power adapters and stands.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
