Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school where funding is low and resources are scarce. My students are a very diverse group of students with varying backgrounds. They also have a wide range of abilities that require constant differentiation of instruction to reach them all. I work alongside some awesome English Language teachers and Exceptional Children's teachers in order for us all to come together and have the greatest impact on my students. It truly takes a village to teach and reach students.

Children need a fun way to become aware of financial concepts as well as becoming a team player.

They crave authentic instruction and authentic learning. As their teacher, I am obligated and committed to providing them with as many opportunities as I can, to learn via games, exploration and imagination.

My Project

Help me incorporate financial literacy, math, team building and reading into our classroom! I would love to use books about money to introduce currency values and spark interest in financial concepts. I would like to extend these money concepts into students' natural ability to play via board games with money skills. They can explore concepts such as, giving change, being a banker, buying and selling and counting money, through play.

Students will build their business skills, math skills and team building skills when given games and manipulatives to explore these concepts with their peers.

They will have scenarios/games that emulate real life financial decision making which encourages critical thinking skills and in depth knowledge of the value of money.
