This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is an inner-city school. We serve a diverse population of students and families.
We serve a student population of English Language Learners and with many students living at or below the poverty line.
Since our school serves a very high population of economically disadvantaged families who face many unique challenges, the staff at the school partners with families to not only support students' academic needs but social and emotional needs as well. Despite language barriers, they come to school eager to learn.
My Project
My students love to build in our STEM station. We have limited materials for them to build with now that we can not share materials.
STEM is such an important component in all grade levels, but especially in Kindergarten and this is the time of exploring and is the start of building the foundation of learning.
The kids are learning about science, technology, engineering, and math! It is critical I foster their learning and provide the necessary tools to make our learning preparation for the future work place. This project will provide STEM stations for designing with Magna-Tiles and Magna-Cubes, These STEM stations will incorporate the science and engineering component of STEM. Children will learn about STEM and the necessary components of STEM for their future. Children will be meeting our science standards when using these resources to create and engineer push/pulling, force, motion, and architecture. These are resources provide a variety of ways to support our curriculum!
