I teach the littlest of scholars who come to school for the very first time. My classroom is in an urban, high poverty area were 100% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
My students are energetic, passionate, kind, and come to school eager to learn in spite of the many disadvantages they are dealt early in life.
In order to prepare my little scholars for kindergarten, I must maximize their learning during the school day. It's my goal to provide a safe, comfortable classroom, full of hands-on materials and creative avenues that allow them to reach their fullest potential!
My Project
The best practice for early education is to allow students to be active, engaged, and take initiative in their own learning. These STEM activities will help stimulate investigations where students are identifying objects, making comparisons, making predictions, testing ideas, and sharing discoveries, all while observing their natural environment. Students can also explore sizes, shapes, patterns, and quantities in the process. In this way, children can learn concepts from different content areas, in different contexts, all in ways that are naturally engaging to them.
My Little Scholar's are incredibly active learners, and with this fully equipped STEM Station I can start building their foundation in STEM as soon as they enter the classroom.
