Little Einsteins Need Science Resources and Materials (STEM)
My students need lab safety materials (aprons and goggles) to conduct essential STEM based experiments. My students also need real-world models to enhance their learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Ever say to yourself, "I wish I could be a fly on the wall" in a classroom to see what really takes place in one? If so, you would love to be a fly on the wall in my classroom. While entering my classroom, you would instantly see a passionate teacher who loves teaching and students who love learning.
My students have started off this new school year to a great start.
They are interested in the natural world around them and are looking forward to all of the exciting STEM based experiments I have in store for them this school year. As 5th graders, my students are required to take a science state standardized test, which covers all standards from 1st to 5th grade. With these resources, I truly believe that my students will achieve academic success this year and aspire to be future scientists, doctors and nurses.
Our school is Title I and in a poverty stricken location. Although my students may experience things many would not at such a young age, they leave their problems from home, at home, and love to come to school each and every day. My daily attendance is excellent and the class participation rate is phenomenal. My students are actively engaged from the moment they walk into my classroom until the moment they leave.
My Project
From my personal experience of teaching 5th grade last year and preparing my students for the 5th grade FCAT (standardized test), based on data, my students had difficulty learning certain science concepts. Based on research and data, my students learn best with hands-on and cooperative learning.
With these resources, my students will be able to investigate and discover several essential science concepts. With the Safety Goggles, Lab coat, and Aprons, we will be able to transform our classroom environment into a science lab and become "scientists" while conducting experiments.
Using the Complete Specimen Set, Animal X-Rays, Anatomy Models, Erupting Volcano, Cross Section Flower Model and Rock and Mineral Set, students will be able to experience through hands-on learning the concepts needed to be learned set forth by the state standards. These concepts include magnetism, vertebrates, invertebrates, flower reproduction, and so much more.
With these donations, I can assure you that it will take my students' learning experiences this year to another level.
My students will not only remember the concepts learned, but they will never forget the memories we will make this school year.
