This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, creative, and capable of amazing things! Our school is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool on the South Side of Chicago. Our blended classroom forms a diverse community of learners where typically developing and special needs students explore and create together.

Within our preschool program, the students’ interests drive the curriculum and our students thrive when they engage with their peers in hands on learning.

The classroom environment is designed to encourage high level questioning with dynamic and challenging activities and PLENTY of exploration.

My Project

Preschool children learn through high interest, hands-on learning experiences. What better way to teach math and science, than through cooking up some tasty treats? This project will allow our students to explore, taste, and create all while learning important academic concepts.

Our classroom is made up of a diverse group of students with a range of learning abilities, cooking is a great way to meet every student where they are.

These materials will be used in the classroom weekly as most of our student will be in-person learning next academic school year. In the event that we continue to have remote learners, cooking is a great way to bring everyone together.
