My Project
Recently, I was given an amazing opportunity to move from a fifth grade classroom. Restocking my library will be a necessity. Transitioning from the fifth-grade classroom, where reading is already more advanced, to PreK requires books that introduce the basics of language, including alphabet recognition, rhyming, and phonics.
In PreK, students are still developing their emotional intelligence and we are beginning to introduce children to different cultures, traditions, and perspectives in an age-appropriate ways.
Books that help students identify and understand their emotions play a huge role in teaching students about sharing, cooperating, and becoming a part of a classroom community.
PreK students are just beginning to develop imaginative play and creativity. Sketch books and picture books with vibrant illustrations and engaging stories can help encourage their imagination and cognitive development in a way that builds on the abstract thinking.
