This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Creating an environment that helps to spark a love for writing is the first step in the success of young writers. My second grade classroom is filled with a variety of mentor texts, other visuals and endless opportunities for student writing. Along with explicit instruction, my students will soar as Little Authors.
Personal writing tool kits will allow my students to express their thoughts, creativity, and uniqueness.
Taking ownership of their very own writing tools not only teaches them responsibility, it allows them to express themselves through writing. As Little Authors, my students will embrace a love for writing.
My students will learn through workshop model how scaffold learning will help them become efficient and confident writers. They will learn to think critically, organize and communicate their ideas, and make their thinking visible and permanent. Sharing their work in the Little Authors’ Chair is often their favorite part of the publishing experience.
