Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am very fortunate for having the most amazing 1st grade class. My students are full of knowledge and are excited to learn and explore new ideas. How awesome it would be for them to have a writing center where they can write and illustrate their creative writing.

My students attend a Title One School and come from a low social - economic background.

Ninety-eight percent of the students receive free or reduced lunch. Due to continuous budget cuts, school supplies are limited. Despite their unfortunate circumstances, they enjoy coming to school and are always eager to learn. This writing center will allow them to use their imagination and develop a strong foundation for writing.

My Project

Having these supplies will allow my students to have a writing center where they can publish and feel like true authors. This center will also encourage my students to explore their creativity by allowing them to publish their work in different ways; i.e. sequencing books, pop-up books, hard cover books, bind books etc... As a result my students as well as their families will be able to appreciate and value their writing.

It is challenging to get writing paper, construction paper and different types of supplies which my students enjoy using when they are publishing their stories.
