This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Located in one of Chicago's South Side neighborhoods, our school is inviting, diverse and community driven. We are known for our strong, culturally diverse student body that prioritizes community building. We are proud to know that they represent our school and the community's future.

My students are a strong group of excited innovators that prioritize creating a kind, supportive and loving environment.

In our art class, students are constantly going above and beyond in using creativity to support their values and ideas. They are paving the way for creating the world they want to live in.

My Project

This year my students are driven to give our school a make over! Our school has ample opportunity to allow for student creativity to take over the walls, windows, bathroom stalls, etc. We believe there's no better group of students to take on this mission than our students.

With the endless opportunity when merging art and technology, my students are determined to use its power to curate a digital experience that invites the community in.

We propose the opportunity to create vinyl decals using the Cricut Maker Machine to display positive quotes and visuals created by each student. We imagine students walking into the bathroom and leaving encouraged and inspired as they see the artwork and quotes covering the stalls and walls. We believe that art is powerful and that by redesigning our school using the Cricut Maker Machine, students will feel more welcomed, loved and inspired than ever before.
