Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite being a Title I school and having a large population of low income, at-risk, and limited English proficient students, our school has managed to maintain itself among the highest performing schools in our large urban school district, and we consistently earn recognition for our accomplishments from the state.

My students are all hardworking, energetic and eager, and they come to class each day ready to learn about how to become better artists.

They come to my class to express themselves through different forms of art.

My Project

This will be the first year our school is offering an art class. The students at my school will, for the first time, have the opportunity to express themselves with various types of art work. With a class set of paints, I plan on having my older students learn how to blend colors, learn about shading and also about specific painting techniques. My younger students in grades PK-1st will be using the paints to learn about shapes and lines. Due to the fact that this is the first time an art class is part of the student's schedules, we are is desperate need of art supplies!

I believe that art should be given as much importance as reading, math, science and social studies.

We have a vision, the students are ready and I am have many fun projects planned for the year. The only thing missing is art supplies. We are all excited to dive into our work!
