My Students
The students in my classroom deserve more than they are being given as poverty is not something they can control. As an art teacher, I am committed to intervene in a loving, supportive, and nurturing way to break the cycle of poverty, neglect, abuse, delinquency and violence that destroys the lives of our children. Through the experiences of visual arts, I can provide my students with enrichment and inspiration for our children to learn to be productive, creative, law-abiding citizens of society!
My Project
At Kirksey Middle School, my students are striving to reach as far as they can academically & artistically. These kids have the talent and the willingness to take on any and every project given! However, they are held back by limited resources and materials. As a new year teacher, I have been doing my best to supply them with supplies for each project but I, too, am held back financially.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student dexterity and creativity, you will ultimately help to increase their inner confidence.
All the materials needed will be used for multiple projects throughout the school year. The pre-cut frames will be used for contests and final projects to display their masterpieces and the heavyweight canvases will be used for main projects such as a planned project: Cultural Inspired Self Portraits which is where the students will paint themselves with a cultural twist! Next, the paint will last at least the first semester and I'm going to show the students how to mix tints and shades of colors for their own painting projects. Lastly, the tablets are for art graphic design/research/inspiration that they need to visually see in order to create their own visuals!
A picture is worth a thousand words, and so by donating you will provide materials to create for many children. You will provide middle school students with access to artistic opportunities that come through learning from doing. You will provide children with the courage of creativity that changes them as humans and open their eyes to new worlds and possibilities.
