Little Artists at Work

My 1st grade students are an inquisitive and creative group.

They amaze me everyday with their ideas and sense of creativity especially in the area of art. These children are a part of a very small, but tight knit community in Southern California. They understand that education is number one on their priority list and appreciate all that is provided for them.

My Project

My students will be utilizing these art resources during a 6 - 8 week art class. We are fortunate enough to have two professional artists volunteer their time by coming to teach art in our classroom. During this time they will use art to teach my students the connection between colors, shapes, feelings, and stories. My students need watercolor paper, erasers, and oil pastels to be used during our art lessons. The students will be drawing flowers and producing abstract art using oil pastels and watercolor paints.

Your generous donation made to this project will help my students receive much needed materials to be used during the art lessons by professional artists.

Due to severe budget cutbacks in the district art programs, our young students are currently missing out on such fantastic lessons. This will expose them to different avenues of art outside of music and dance.
