At ACE Tech, students are thrilled and excited to learn the history of drama from a multicultural perspective. With the introduction of the first drama class to be held at ACE Tech, students will receive the opportunity to create and execute an original play for their peers and community. By doing so, the students will gain public speaking skills essential for today's work force and community leadership positions. Moreover, students will expand their interests and learning experiences in another branch of the language arts. However, our school lacks the facilities and equipment necessary for students to create drama productions and successfully gain these communication skills that integrate all disciplines. In order to develop this program, students will need basic equipment and materials to bring literature to life in the classroom. As the ACE Tech Drama and English teacher, I am seeking funding for a classroom set of plays, a camcorder, TV/DVD player and microphone. With this equipment, students will be able to learn the historical elements and fundamentals of drama through inquiry based learning. Furthermore, by learning drama, students will explore teen identity, community and academic issues that are the heart of high school drama.
