Help me give my students Picture Perfect STEM Science Lesson book and literature books like The Inventor's Secret, Burn, and If You Hold a Seed to connect science to the real world.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fifth-grade students are working diligently to increase their twenty-first-century skills. They are highly motivated students in need of higher level thinking opportunities. I am interested in supporting my students to achieve their dreams.
My students are deserving of the best the world can offer because they are our future!
They are a fun-loving, creative and dedicated group of learners coming from primarily Latino families located in suburban California. Our school has about one thousand students in a PreK-5 environment where free or reduced-price lunch is the standard. We are co-located with a Magnet school on our campus.
My Project
My students are naturally inquisitive and STEM hands-on science is always a way to get them thinking and interacting with other students of diversity. Their minds are geared for engineering design and coming up with solutions to problems that relate to their surroundings.
Linking literature to science concepts and allowing my students to investigate solutions will greatly enhance their ability to understand their world.
I have chosen the 5th-grade NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) literature books to accompany the lessons in the Picture Perfect Science Lesson book. By linking a story with a science investigation, it is my goal to provide my students with opportunities to experience problem-solving, collaboration, research, and engineering design. Each of these books will supplement the learning my students will do to master their Next Generation Science Standards and prepare them for creating a better world.
