This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will provide my students the opportunity to read great books and share the reading journey with their peers in literature circles. Literature circles give students the space to talk about and share their opinions about books with their peers. Through these conversations they build community, learn critical speaking and listening behaviors, deepen their understanding of books, and… recognize that reading is fun!
Books can take us places we have never been before.
Now, imagine going there with your best friends. My students will be divided in groups of 4 or 5. All groups will choose a book to read and have regular meetings to discuss, analyze and review the books.
Literature Circles will allow my students to become critical thinkers as they read, share thoughts, ask questions, and respond to reading selections which are crucial skills for the 21st century.
