This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from students in the gifted and talented program to refugees from all over the world. We have an incredibly diverse population who are kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and empathetic.

Over the past year and a half, students have been challenged to find ways to process and cope with the trauma and stress that has affected everyone globally.

With limited resources, my students have done an impressive job with growing and persisting despite all the setbacks they have faced with learning gaps, housing and food insecurity, as well as the other stresses that have come due to the pandemic.

My Project

Learning and demonstrating understanding are so much more fun when done through hands on activities. As a culminating project to any unit, I love having students create a project based on the theme of the text we've studied.

These supplies will help students showcase their understanding of genre, theme, and characterization at the end of our dystopia unit by allowing them to invent their own board games based on the novels they read in their literature circles.

This is often so much more effective at demonstrating what students really understand because it requires such deeper level thinking, in addition to being really fun for students to create and then play their classmates' games.
