Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are 6th and 7th graders who are in special education for English Language Arts. Having a "junk journal" as we move throughout the semester gives students a place to write their thoughts, opinions, summaries, etc., about what we are reading in class. "Junk journals" are a place where students can be creative through collaging and drawing. My students are also English Language Learners and would benefit from multimodal, tactile activities to help them better understand the text.
Some of these materials are also to help create dioramas at the end of the semester.
The clay will be used to help create characters. The miniature white boards are for students' thought processes as we discuss our readings. This is my first year at Ernie Pyle, and I want my students and I to flourish! Any support is appreciated.
