My Project
I teach an amazing group of Special Ed 3rd graders in a Title I school. The neighborhood consists of a myriad of beautiful diverse cultures, however, it is set within a low socio-economic environment.
There is something special about a child looking at beautifully illustrated pages and reading a book!
Our new ELA program has a Module that studies literary classics. Literary classics are just that ... classics. They never grow old and my students deserve the opportunity to enjoy them. What can be better than that?
Literary classics such as Treasure Island, Heidi, Robin Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Swiss Family Robinson ... I can go on and on ... are priceless! We are currently reading Peter Pan and my kiddos are loving it!
Please help me encourage literacy using the classics that we all grew up with!
