My students need a Kindle to be able to record our science experiments.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. St. Clair's classroom raised $202

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title One, inner city school. I teach in a hands-on science lab. I also have a reading club because literacy and technology are the subjects my students need the most access to.
I teach 1st through 5th graders in a hands-on lab.
My students come from a predominantly low income background. The school I work at is 99% Hispanic and 95% of our families are on free or reduced cost lunch. Our students need extra guidance and support that many of them may lack at home.
My Project
The Kindle will have have double duty. For my science lab, we will use it as a camera and for the science educational apps. The children will also be able to do science scavenger hunts on the internet. Some labs can't be done in my lab because I don't have the supplies- a Kindle will help us do virtual labs. For my Reading Club, my students will be allowed to "check out" the Kindle before school & during lunch.
I believe access to a Kindle will enrich my students learning.
I am trying to instill a love of reading and have the kids work in teams or with partners. I like that the Kindle is child friendly and easy to use.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
