Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Materials for STEM projects, phonics, and literacy games will have a powerful impact on my kindergarten students’ learning and development. STEM activities encourage young minds to explore, ask questions, and problem-solve through hands-on experiments and building challenges. These experiences spark curiosity and critical thinking skills that will benefit them across all subjects. At the same time, phonics and literacy games provide essential support for early reading skills. Through playful, engaging activities, students strengthen their understanding of letters, sounds, vocabulary, and comprehension—setting a strong foundation for future academic success.

Creating a well-organized and comfortable classroom environment is just as important as the materials themselves.

With the right classroom furniture—like flexible seating, accessible storage, and age-appropriate workspaces—students can focus better, stay organized, and feel a sense of ownership in their learning space. As I transition from teaching first grade to kindergarten next year, these materials will help me build a developmentally appropriate and engaging environment for my new students. Kindergarten is such an important year of growth, and having the right tools in place will allow me to meet their needs from day one—nurturing their creativity, independence, and love for learning.

What makes my students so special is their eagerness to learn and their joy in every little discovery. Many of them come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives, strengths, and personalities into the classroom. They thrive in a space where learning feels like play and where every small success is celebrated.
