My Project

My Students

I teach 20 second-grade students in Kansas.

They are inquisitive, bubbly, and full of personality. These students try their best and are learning how to learn. They are coming to terms with struggling through subjects and finding out that it's ok to not know something... yet!

My kids are learning how to read, but are unable to order books from our monthly orders.

We are in a Title I school. I showed my students a flyer I was going to send home. Many of them were so eager and talking about what books they wanted to get. I would love it if I could send each child a book home monthly, free to them, so that they can continue their education at home. I want to help them get the gift of a literacy-rich environment.

My Project

My students are learning how to read and are very interested in the monthly book order flyers that we send home. Unfortunately, many of my kids do not have the means to order books of their own. As much as many parents want to help, they often do not have any books to help their child practice with at home.

This project will give students the opportunity to practice reading and improve their education at no cost to them.

A simple gift of one book a month could significantly impact the lives of my students and encourage them to carry over their learning from their school lives into their home lives.
