Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is meant to support literacy, pride, and diversity, not only in the classroom, but outside in the world as well. Students need to be able to see themselves reflected in the literature that they are reading. they need to see themselves in the movies that they watch and the music that they listen to.
These books are needed so the students can see that they should be proud of themselves for being who they are.
They should want to read more because they want to see more, of the world and also of themselves.
We will use these books in our classroom in order to give the students the ability to discuss and write about real topics and situations that are relevant to them. We want lifelong literacy, and not have the teenagers thinking that books are never about them. Thank you for seeing the value in this project!
