This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are part of a wonderful Spanish Immersion program. Our school offers 90% Spanish and 10% English starting in kindergarten. They are life-long learners in a bilingual community. My students are full of excitement, confidence, and are hard workers. They are curious learners, ready to collaborate and problem solve. Each student is unique and have different learning styles. I want my students to thrive in the classroom and build the foundation they need to be successful in the school years to come.
My students will benefit from a variety of resources that will help increase their success through a remote learning platform.
Our school will begin remote learning as of August 18 due to the COVID-19 virus. I want to ensure that my students have access to materials that will complement teacher lessons with learning in their homes.
My Project
My goal is for my students to have the necessary materials to learn at home in an engaging manner. Writing journals will be perfect for my students to keep all their writing entries in one place. These journals are age appropriate as they have space to draw a picture and write a word or sentence on the dotted lines. The dry erase sleeves can have multiple uses such as practicing a language arts paper activity (or any subject!) over and over without having to print multiple sheets of the same paper. It can even be used as a dry erase board by inserting a white sheet of paper or dotted lines. Students can engage with me during live online lessons. I plan to print letter tiles and attach to the adhesive magnetic sheets so that students can have their own set to learn with at home. These magnetic letter tiles would then be used to practice phonics activities. All these resources, along with others I am putting together, will be placed in the drawstring backpacks for students to keep and use at home.
