My Students

What is the best type of feedback? It is the feedback that you give yourself. Mozart, Steve Jobs, Einstein were all known for using their own critical criticism of their work to improve their skills. My students need tools to be able to analyze their reading fluency.

My students are fun, curious, and have a passion for learning.

They protest loudly whenever we have to transition to another activity, because they are so engaged in what they are learning. My students living in a urban area of Los Angeles county. Our school is a high poverty, Title I school, .

My Project

I am requesting a super cardioid microphone to connect to our classroom computer. This microphone will allow students to record their voices as they read books. This is uploaded to the website Raz Kids, and students are then able to review their reading fluency. Using the tools on the website, they will analyze features of their reading fluency. What makes this great is that students will be able give themselves feedback. Their recordings will be saved, allowing comparisons with newer performances. They will hear their improvements. This microphone is a super cardioid, which collects sound from only the area around the microphone. Background sounds are minimized. Since the recording will take place inside the classroom, this is a necessary feature.

With such a simple tool, my students will become the drivers of their own education.

They will know that they have the power over their minds. Thank you for your help in transforming the way my students learn.
