Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My resilient students live in a low-income area and need to develop their academic literacy and technology skills. Our school has limited computer access. I am planning for my students to create literacy rich short films while integrating the use of art and teamwork. These films will be viewed on campus during parent involvement events to help develop a sense of connection with the community while mastering learning outcomes. Using technology, creativity, and cooperation can be inspirational and motivate others to read more!
My Project
By taking turns in groups to use the iPad, students will learn the roles of narrator, set director, camera person, director, and editor to plan and prepare short films. By collaborating in groups to develop their literacy, creativity, compromising, technology, speaking, artistic and social/emotional skills, the students will undertake the task of a student-led project for mastering literacy and speaking skills.
The Stop Motion app with use of iMovie will be particularly useful since they can be easily accessed in the iPad and are user-friendly to teach students basic and advanced movie making skills.
Another feature in the iMovie app that will help my students is the Trailer option which will be used to paraphrase short stories and books to entice other students to read those selections.
