This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are always full of enthusiasm, curiosity and have lots of energy. For many, it is their first time in a classroom setting, but they are eager to learn. They also come from very low income households and all receive free meals. Families here are not able to provide anything extra for their child. They are also surrounded with high crime, so school is the place where they go to feel safe.
Regardless of their situations, these young children are ready to learn and I want them to feel successful.
My students are also second language learners. They need to master, not only the language, but the academics. Let's give these young minds a better chance to acquire the foundation that they need to shine.
My Project
This project will allow me to present centers, games, and incentives for my kindergarten kids in order to increase their engagement and learning in our classroom.
We witnessed how vital technology can be in the classroom and at home during these past two years, but we also witnessed how hands-on learning cannot be substituted.
They will be able to use the Mini Magic Boards to practice writing letters, as well as, Learn to Print Practice Books for those young students still struggling with penmanship. Then games such as Letter Recognition Instant Learning Center, Float Find Alphabet Bubbles, and Alphabet Magnetic Activity Tin will give them the opportunity to manipulate letters. Sight Words Instant Learning Center to assist with memorizing them. Touch Read CVC Match for those ready to read. And incentives like Fruit Scented Stickers or Juicy Fruit Scented Dot Art Painters.
So all these games and centers will give my students the extra reinforcement they need for hands-on learning through literacy.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
