My Students

Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift. -Kate DiCamillo Reinforcing reading skills becomes dull when students have only worksheets to support their learning. Let's change and provide my 2nd graders with new exciting materials.

My students are vibrant energetic 8-year-olds with a desire to become better readers.

While they come from underprivileged homes ridden with poverty, they still have an intense desire to become productive citizens. They are determined to rise above their circumstance and excel in their academics.

My Project

My students need Can Do: Comprehension, Vocabulary, Phonemic Awareness and Level Book Activity Box to help support their learning during Literacy Intervention. During intervention time students will be able to work in small groups or with partners to build reading skills. Students will answer questions to develop skills in reading literature, reading informational text, and language. Also, develop skills in language, vocabulary acquisition and use, prefixes, shades of meaning and root words. During guided reading and literacy intervention students will use the Level Book Activity Box. This will allow students to take a closer look at any leveled book—with hands-on activities they can do on their own.

Having these materials during the school year will help engage students during literacy intervention time.

These high-interest, colorful, and attractive materials will provided students with practice using different reading comprehension skills, vocabulary practice, and leveled activities for reading. Students' increased engagement will help improve reading stamina, comprehension, and confidence. Thank you for believing in my students and their ability to succeed beyond their circumstances.
