My Project

Did you know that students can develop literacy skills while in music class? Studies have shown that children who engage in musical activities, such as clapping to rhythms or singing songs, develop stronger phonological awareness. This skill helps them understand how sounds form words, an essential step in learning to read (AlliSongsfortots).

This project will provide students with books, materials, and activities to develop literacy skills while they are in music class!

I love teaching things that relate to what my students are learning in class, including reading and writing! The books in this project will allow students to practice their reading while learning about musical topics! Some of the books will provide songs that will engage students in reading lyrics and understanding what they mean!

Some of the non-book materials in this project (including wood, magnets, googly eyes, glass marbles, etc.) will be used to make activities to go along with the books and other literacy activities we do! Other materials will be used to add to a game that promotes literacy!
