Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are brilliant, highly motivated, energetic, loving and diverse. We have eighty percent of students for whom English is their second language, students with behavior issues and others with challenging home lives. Nearly all students are from low-income households and receive free lunch.

The children love to read and use reading to not only learn, but to explore the world.

Reading is a gateway to knowledge and gives children the opportunity to take an adventure outside of what they are used to. The students are excited to come to the library and check out books.

My Project

Our school's little free library is in much need for a replacement. This is where our students and families have been served throughout the pandemic. Our little library is a major fixture in our school community and continues to help build the love for reading. And as a way to add some fun learning tools to the library center, I have thought of educational games that I have seen in the past work with students to keep them engaged and learning. The games in the project are great tools to assist students with word recognition and building words.
