This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school and I am in need of support to get started on a classroom library. My students this year will be GT so I want to make sure I have a variety of books to fulfill their reading needs. As you may know GT students are super creative, full of questions, curiosity and are eager to learn about things that interest them. I want to be able to provide that for them. I know that when my students see that we have brand new books they will be in love and happy to know they’re the first class that gets to use them. Not only will this help develop their reading skills but it will allow me to teach them about ownership, sharing, how to take care of our library and the importance of being nice to our books.

My Project

These books will help me establish a print rich classroom. I will be able to provide low income students with the resources they need in order to build fluency, comprehension and to allow them to think outside the box by opening up their imagination.

I want my students to be able to grab a book from my classroom library and feel like they have been sucked into the story as well.

The best way to increase reading ability is by reading more. By facilitating a classroom library my students will be able to pick a book that fits their needs. These books will help my students grow stronger in reading and will allow them to become creative thinkers and dreamers.
