My students need creative wands and pointers, pocket charts, sentence strips, and comfortable bean bag chairs to develop their literacy in an interactive way!
"Words were medicine: they were magic and invisible.
They came from nothing into sound and meaning.
They were beyond price; they could neither be bought or sold."
-N. Scott Momaday (Kiowa), House Made of Dawn, 1968
I teach twenty-one wonderful students in an all day Kindergarten classroom in a high-need community.
They are a beautiful, multi-cultural group with differing abilities. My classroom is hands- and brains-on, and we love to learn from one another and through music. We love to sing and dance. My goal is to inspire my students to believe in themselves and become lifelong learners. They have made my life brighter, and I would like to brighten theirs in return!
My Project
My students with autism and cultural and linguistic diversity need a variety of materials to develop literacy. I am requesting creative wands and pointers, sentence and word strips, pocket charts, and bean bag chairs to be used with poems, big books, buddy reading, word sorts, and a variety of other literacy activities. My students will greatly benefit from the opportunity to sharpen their skills as they practice fluency and comprehension!
Your donation could help close the gap for my students in a high-need community.
With perpetually dwindling budgets in Ohio, classroom teachers are no longer able to make purchase orders for classroom supplies like these. Without your help, my students will not have the opportunity to use these materials. They are a wonderful group of children, and they deserve the best resources!
