Literacy Everywhere

My Students

Our school is a small, rural Pre-K through fifth-grade school with a student population of 246. The students here work hard and seem to always have a positive attitude about school. They enjoy learning new things and being a part of the community here. Being in a rural school makes it difficult for our students to participate in team sports that are offered in the closest town. Many of our students come from low-income homes, and they are faced with difficult situations.

Our students have good hearts, and our faculty and staff strive to give them as many opportunities for success as we possibly can.

Being at school is sometimes their only opportunity to see a different world other than the one that they live in every day.

My Project

Help give my students with multi-disabilities these materials to enhance learning through language, and organize our classroom. The books will be used as read alouds during the day to enhance our literacy and language skills. The containers, Velcro and index cards will be used to store and organize our sight words and picture cards, which are used for our picture schedule. The picture cards and schedule are very important in my classroom. They allow my students to orally express themselves and become independent. Using the picture cards and schedule allows my students to express their needs and wants. The pictures and picture schedule are attached using Velcro. The surfer bus and accessories will be used in our role play and doll center, which helps my students to use language in a natural setting. Please consider giving to this project.
