Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a full class of amazing kindergarteners who are incredibly kind, curious, and motivated to learn to read. The majority of my students are second language learners who come from low-income homes. One of the things that really stands out about my class is their motivation and determination to learn. They work so hard every day and love to implement every new skill they learn. They are truly an amazing group of students and I am so honored to be their teacher.
My Project
These phonemic awareness and literacy centers will help my students begin their journey to becoming excellent readers. Kindergarteners need to have a strong foundation in letter recognition, sightwords, and rhyming to truly become excellent and fluent readers. It is important for them to fully understand how the alphabet and it’s sounds work together to make words. They will use these literacy centers during independent group time. These literacy centers will provide a fun and engaging way for my students to practice the skills that I teach every day, while providing me with the time to work with students who need extra practice.
