Literacy Center Resources!

Help me give my students a learning environment focused on learning that’s individualized. The seat sack storage pockets, books, games, and reading comprehension items would be used as a part of my initiative to do daily literacy centers focused on the SoR and differentiation.

My Project

Last year was my 1st year of teaching. I graduated from my university in December and I came in in the middle of the school year to do a 5th grade intervention position at a Title I school. I learned so much about differentiation and found a passion for providing my students with a learning experience that’s catered to their individual needs.

This year I’ll be teaching 3rd grade and these things would help me kickstart my plans to do daily differentiated literacy centers.

3rd grade is such a transitional time for students in their literacy skills: they are moving from learning to read to reading to learn. Making sure students are being given instruction that’s on their level is crucial to getting them to where they need to be. Some students may need a little extra help learning to read before we dive into comprehension and some may be ready to move into bigger passages. Providing students the opportunity to rotate through practicing the different components of literacy gives them the opportunity to become more well rounded readers. My hope is that these centers become students’ favorite part of the day and we have fun diving into the world of reading and comprehension!
