Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a wonderful group of amazing children who have many goals and aspirations. Many of my students struggle with the barriers of poverty, language acquisition, special needs and parents working very long hours; however, these factors serve as motivation to push my students to be better and more focus with their efforts. My classroom is special because the students I teach are so engaged and willing to learn that they push me to be the best teacher that I can be for them.

My Project

These materials will allow me to push my thinking and my practice. Having access to technology and using that technology thoughtfully is a goal of mine in the classroom and when I present to my colleagues. This Chromebook will allow me the resources to create presentations to present to colleagues, email information, share documents, and track student reading progress through conferring notes. The Chromebook will also help with tracking the work that I am doing with my fellow teachers to further build a better understanding of techniques and strategies to solidify student learning.

I will be incorporating new ways to reach, teach, and engage my students.

Through the strategies learned in the ESL book, and the book by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst, I will be expanding my thinking as a teacher of reading along with facilitating that knowledge to my colleagues and the adults I co-teach with.

As a current teacher leader through ReadWorks.org, I hope to continue to expand my reach of best practices both in my classroom and in future professional developments that I am asked to lead. These resources, I know will further prepare me to do both.
