Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are excited to have our “Literacy Bag” community event, designed to support literacy and foster a love of reading within our school. To make this event successful, we are seeking funding for cozy blankets and mini stuffed animals that will create a warm and inviting atmosphere for all participants.

The “Literacy Bag” initiative will be led by our 3rd/5th grade students, who will take an active role in organizing and hosting this special event.

Students will gather in our school library, and get to choose a free literacy bag to share with their family at home. The bag will have a blanket, stuffed animal and couple of books. This event will not only encourage reading but also promote community building and social interaction among students from different grades.

As part of the preparation, students will help organize and gather book donations. This preparation will empower them to take ownership, develop leadership skills, and foster a spirit of collaboration and kindness.

This initiative will benefit the entire school community, which includes students from kindergarten through eight grade.

The blankets and mini stuffed animals we are requesting will play a crucial role in making the “Literacy Bag” event a success.
