This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are excited to launch a new activity for students in the library that merges the magic of storytelling with the creativity of building—our Literacy and LEGOs project! This project aims to ignite a love for reading and learning through the hands-on fun of LEGOs, making story time an engaging and interactive adventure for students.

We believe that every story has the potential to spark imagination, and foster a lifelong love of reading.

By integrating LEGOs into our literacy efforts, we hope to create an interactive environment where stories are brought to life through construction, creativity, and exploration. Students will have the opportunity to listen to a story and then use LEGOs to build characters, reflect the setting of the story, or extend their thinking and engineer a new idea.

LEGOs and books are the heart of this project. To make this vision a reality, we need your support to provide the LEGOs for our students. Whether you’re a passionate reader, a LEGO enthusiast, or someone who genuinely believes in the power of reading, your donation can make a world of difference to our wonderful students at Zavala Elementary School in El Paso, Texas where 98% of students are identified as economically disadvantaged.

Please consider supporting our efforts to create a space where imagination thrives and literacy flourishes, one LEGO brick at a time. Your involvement will not only enrich the lives of our students, who come from low income households, but your support will also help build a lifelong love of reading and provide our children with a small luxury other children have enjoyed while growing up.
