Listening To VS. Interacting with Lessons (Technology Has It)
My students need a projector, document camera, and SMART Board lesson CD to improve interest and participation in reading and math lessons.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Cline's classroom raised $308
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are starving for new innovative ways to learn reading and math that catches and keeps their attention and supports their needs. We begin our daily routine on a SMART board that allows every child to interact with the materials. We love it, we are learning and retaining so much more!
In our Inclusion- ESL- Kindergarten We are a large group of 20 students ages 5-7 gathered together around a SMART Board ecstatic to learn with technology.
We are lucky enough to have been given the SMART Board after it went out of date. Unfortunately we share the projector and document camera with three grade levels and can only have it for one lesson first thing in the morning. Our students and school population is eligible for 100% free lunch and our schools budget fits that profile too within our large inner city district! We are English language learners and students with disabilities who are struggling with learning vocabulary and phonics, learning narrative and informational writing and learning the mathematical concepts when we don't understand the vocabulary. We are eager to communicate and interact with the new language and excited to have tangible and visual ways to interact with technology that can support us with our learning deficits.
My Project
We have the SMART board in our classroom, however the projector and document camera is shared with 9 classrooms in an eight period school day. The projector will allow our kindergarten classroom to use the SMART board for more lessons. On the board the content is large for all 20 of us to see, the visuals are vibrant and interesting as well as we each can have a turns to manipulate or create the content on the board with just our fingers! The document camera will allow us to use our tables to place materials in front of us to follow along while seeing the teacher instructions in large print from across the room and see the directions as we are learning to understand the verbal instructions. Learning English and struggling with learning disabilities have already made reading and math very hard. Using the large, vibrant SMART Board to display the content and interact with has helped us progress in new learning endeavors. With the ability to have more lessons with the tools we will soar
This project will make a difference by allowing all the students regardless of language or disability to see the instructions visually while processing the verbalized vocabulary for better comprehension and faster progression.
The sooner students learn and comprehend their academic language verbally the more successful they will be in school. The students will be gaining an advantage in reading and math foundational skills that will carry them throughout their school careers and latter in life.
