My Students
"Technology is the future". We all know this but our schools are not able to keep up with this philosophy because of budget woes. I am asking for an iPod Touch for my students to use for interactive learning.
My wonderful 2nd graders are part of the Spanish Immersion Program.
They are learning to speak, read and write Spanish. We have our English instruction half of the day when we teach the Language Core, Reading, Writing and reinforce Math instruction. The Spanish instruction is the other half of the day. These students come from varying backgrounds but are all voracious learners and readers!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds but all of them enjoy using the tools of today. With an iPod Touch, I can download books of all levels for the students to listen to and practice their fluency. We will be able to use the many apps available to aid in their learning. This technology will be used during a Readers and Writers Workshop as a tool to model what good readers and writers do. The sky is the limit with this technology!
My Project
We all love our iPhone or iPod Touch, not to mention all the fun and exciting apps that are available to us. An iPod Touch will enable my students to have this same feeling, but will at the same time be incorporating mathematical and literacy principles. With the iPod Touch, students can tape themselves reading and then play it back. Another goal for our iPod Touch is to record our classroom books so that each student can listen and read independently as an extension of the daily reading class. We have technology around us, and this will let them experience it.
There are many apps available for the iPod Touch including Spelling Buddy, Kids Math Fun, Sight Words, Pattern Recognition, Kosmic Math, Flashcard Addition, iWrite Words and Tales2Go to name a few! These are a valuable tool to aid in the children's learning.
The iPod Touch offers students the capability to download the most innovative programs designed for instruction.
