My Students
My school is a part of Michigan’s largest public education system. We have approximately 100 students in our kindergarten program. Over 90% of those students are receiving instruction virtually.
My goal is to ensure that all children, especially those in highest need, have access to high-quality early learning and development programs and exit kindergarten prepared for success.
My students are motivated to learn, enthusiastic, creative and learn best by doing. They are so thrilled to finally get the chance to attend "big kid school." This is their chance to shine, and they look forward to school with excitement, energy, and gusto!
I ABSOLUTELY love being a kindergarten teacher. I love seeing little faces light up with a smile when I greet them every morning. What I love most about being a kindergarten teacher is that I see the difference I make in my student’s lives, every single day.
My Project
My students are in need of a listening station. Helping our classroom receive this technology will allow groups of students to listen to stories being read to them during literacy centers.
As research-based best practices suggest, following along to stories read-aloud greatly improves students' reading as it models fluency, accuracy, and expression at a steady rate.
These components are crucial to engaging students in the adventures of texts.
A listening station will develop their reading level, push them to grade-level texts, and set them on a path for future success as their love for reading is enhanced.
