This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." ~Nelson Mandela
My students come to school each day ready to learn new things and interact with their friends.
Most of my students are living in poverty. School is a comfortable place in which they know there will be served a warm meal and loved by teachers. Most of my students eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at school. Many of my students face many obstacles at home. Despite all the challenges at home, my students still work very hard every day at school.
My Project
My students will use the audio books during listen to reading time. It is proven that students become better readers by listening to books being read aloud.
Having these resources in our classroom will allow multiple children to listen to stories being read aloud at one time.
Many of my students do not get read to at home, therefore these materials would really benefit my classroom. Many times audio books are used with second language learners. I have several children in my classroom who speak English as a second language. Most of the books requested are nonfiction books. These books would help students to also gain knowledge on other subjects while listening to these books.
